Blogger(s) Wanted For Lawyer’s Employment Blog

Motivated, experienced blogger(s) sought to help well-known, authoritative employment blog realize full potential and improve market position in the growing career/employment/human resources sector of the blogosphere.

Excellent opportunity for entrepreneurial individual seeking to develop full-time blogging revenues through multiple blogs.

About the Blog:

George’s Employment Blawg (www.employmentblawg.com), has been in continuous operation since May 2003, covering a variety of employment-related topics, including careers, human resources, employee benefits, labor & employment law, and workplace trends and developments.

Blog has been run largely as solo effort by full-time employment lawyer, who now sees possibilities that cannot be achieved alone, due to limitations of time and skills.

Potential includes developing network of spun-off, more tightly-focused blogs. Also considering developing forums and/or topically-focused Digg-type site, possibly using workworldweek.com domain, which has been purchased.

Duties:

Blogger(s) will assist in one or more of these aspects of operations:
1. Researching and tagging news items for headline feeds, using Bloglines and del.icio.us accounts.
2. Writing 3-5 feature posts a week, in close collaboration with creator/owner.
3. Reviewing and updating blog design, including SEO, WordPress plugins, layout, CSS, and graphics.
4. Driving traffic to and promoting and monetizing blog, including evaluation of all options, such as paid posts and reviews, affiliate sales, optimized use of ad networks, and directly-sold advertising/sponsorhip.

Qualifications:

Will vary depending on duties undertaken.

For research and writing duties (1 and 2), blogging experience preferred, but not essential; subject matter knowledge not necessary, but a plus.

For technical duties (3), demonstrated working knowledge of WordPress, CSS, HTML, Photoshop, and related technologies required.

For monetizing (4), successful monetization of other blog(s) required.

Compensation:

At present, the blog’s revenues are very modest — much less than its potential, precluding per post or hourly payment at the outset.

Payment will be negotiated and agreed in writing on a revenue-sharing basis, with 100% of revenue paid out to new blogger(s) until reasonable agreed level of compensation is reached Thereafter, revenue sharing with owner at levels providing growth incentives.

Blog has not yet led to legal business, but optimization or creation of related blog(s) may yield such business.

Ethical constraints preclude direct sharing of legal fees, but should lucrative legal work be obtained through blogging, earnings from it may allow renegotiation of payment terms by improving owner’s financial position.
